Share Results

The Share button on the result page uploads your comparison to the Compare XML share server and gives you a short link that anyone can open to see the same result.

How to Share

  1. Run a comparison so the result page is showing your diff.
  2. Click Share in the result page toolbar.
  3. Review the sizes of the base and contrast inputs, then pick an expiration time.
  4. Click Share again to create the link, then copy it.

The link looks like this:

Opening it loads the stored snapshot and runs the comparison automatically — the recipient does not need the original files.

Expiration and Size Limits

The available expiration options depend on the total payload size:

After a share expires, the link shows a “not found or expired” message and the content is no longer accessible.

Editing a Shared Result

When you open a shared link, the toolbar shows an edit button instead of the Share button. Clicking it loads the shared content into the editors so you can modify it and run a new comparison — the original share is not affected.

Privacy

  • Shared content is stored on the share server until it expires. Anyone with the link can view it, so share links only with people who should have access.
  • If you prefer not to send data through a server, use URL loading instead — it keeps the data in the URL itself.
